In 2011, Sandra trained with the Youth Intervention Network (YIN) to go into homes and help intervene in the lives of at-risk youth and families besieged by violence, crime, and truancy which united Sandra’s passion for giving back to the community.

Sandra continued to work with at-risk children during her clinical practicum. She worked with high school kids at Deer Valley HS, College Park HS, and Mount Diablo Day Continuation school, providing psychotherapy to children struggling in school due to trauma and unstable home environments or learning disabilities. Sandra continued her work in mental health, working with families, individuals, and couples providing psychotherapy in clinics and a private practice setting. Sandra is the former Chair Crime Prevention Commissioner and serves on Antioch’s School District Work-Based advisory board, an active Rotarian and Kiwanis member.
